Desertec Foundation Within 6 hours deserts receive more energy from the sun than humankind consumes within a year.This could be a large part of the solution to all our energy problems. Pretty simple really: take a large area in a location which receives a lot of sunlight like a desert, put in a shed load of mirrors to create some heat which is used to produce steam to then drive steam turbines and bosh you have electricity.
